YOU ARE UNREPEATABLE. THERE IS A MAGIC ABOUT YOU THAT IS ALL YOUR OWN*

Girls  nowadays seem to have a very uneasy relationship with the idea of elegance.

Here’s my version of an explanation ( and an extension on the avoiding of risk). Remember that scene in A Beautiful Mind when John Nash has his aha moment in a bar and the seeds of game theory are sown? The scenario he uses to illustrate his idea involves a gorgeous blond and her less lovely friends who enter a room full of attentive men. The men approach the friends but not the blonde, leaving her miffed as they swing their new dates onto the dance floor. Why haven’t they tried the ultimate prize? Because they fear they will fail. If they aim lower, on the other hand, not only will success be easier to come by but no one will ever know they’ve settled.

However

Those flip-flops, in other words, may mean: Do I look like I care? But the truth is, I do care. How much I would love to find myself in an Alaia  just the right Manolos, the perfect shade of lipstick and a bag just the right size, color and texture that would magically complete the look.  Naturally  I’d welcome leaving the house without a backward glance because I know there is absolutely nothing to improve upon and sally forth into the appreciative world, where all may note what a classy girl I have become.
